Everyone wants a magic bullet when it comes to weight loss.

The most important part of weight loss is to stay mindful.

Below is the most important strategy you can employ to ensure you are successful.

The Hershey Kiss

There was a study done where Hershey’s Kisses were placed in varying proximities to the test subject.

On top of their desk, in their desk, in the filing cabinet across the room, and lastly down the hall in another room.

What they found is that the further the chocolates were from the test subject the fewer were eaten.

Something as simple as putting the chocolates in the desk instead of on top caused a reduction in how many were eaten.

Willpower is not Unlimited

Another study was done on willpower. The researchers wanted to know if willpower is something that people have an infinite amount of.

What they found is that willpower is finite. It gets used up.

If you are constantly being tempted or having to say no to something you will eventually give in.

The Strategy: COntrol Your Environment

Controlling your environment is the most important thing you can do when you want to lose weight.

If you have junk foods at home throw them out. Don’t wait until they’re gone. Make a stand and toss them.

If you keep bad food around for your kids, do them a favor and trash the chips. They will thank you for it later in life.

If you were on a desert island there would be no junk food, and no chance of eating foods that will hurt your waistline.

Shop Hungry

We’ve all been told to never shop hungry.

I’m going to go against the conventional wisdom and implore you to shop hungry.

Yes, you will buy more food. Yes, you will spend more money. But this is exactly what you should be doing–stocking your home with plenty of high-quality whole foods to eat during the week.

Buy the expensive cuts of meat. Buy fresh fruits and vegetables.

If you are a rational human being you know these foods will expire, and they were expensive.

Those two things will all but guarantee you eat them instead of going out to eat.

ensure your Success

Controlling your environment is the most important strategy for weight loss, but it isn’t the only one.

Successful weight loss is a culmination of education, effort, and accountability.

The effort is on you.
